Amy Shumaker, DVM

Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Dermatology

Dr. Shumaker is a 2001 graduate of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a rotating medicine and surgical internship at VCA South Shore Animal Hospital south of Boston, MA, from 2001-2002, subsequently staying on as a general practitioner for 3 years. From 2005 to 2008, she served as a resident in dermatology at Dermatology for Animals in Arizona and became board-certified in dermatology in 2008. She has been a dermatologist in many locations, including Arizona, California, Nevada, and Massachusetts, and is now happy to make Virginia her home.

Dr. Shumaker has authored and co-authored several articles in veterinary publications and book chapters. She has also served for several years on the dermatology examination board. When not working, Dr. Shumaker can be found cooking in the kitchen, gardening, hiking, or just lounging with her fur babies, Kiwi and Cooper.
