Craig Griffin, DVM

Dr. Craig Griffin is a graduate of Cornell University and completed his residency at UC Davis in 1980. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD), and has served as a past president of the college as well as on its Board of Directors and examination committee. He also served as president of the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology (AAVD) and of the Western States Veterinary Conference.
Dr. Griffin is a frequent lecturer and clinical instructor of veterinary dermatology in the US and internationally. He was an instructor, then course master in veterinary dermatology for the European School of Advanced Veterinary Medicine (1992 to 2020) and was instrumental in their expansion into Asia, where he still teaches. He is currently a Clinical Professor of Veterinary Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences. Dr. Griffin has published widely, including many articles and book chapters on small animal skin disease, and is a co-author of Muller and Kirks Small Animal Dermatology 5th-7th editions and coeditor of Current Veterinary Dermatology, The Science and Art of Therapy. Dr. Griffin’s love for the profession and teaching was recognized when he received the ACVD Award for Excellence for outstanding contributions in veterinary dermatology in 2001 and the Frank Kral Award for Achievements in Veterinary Dermatology in 2014.
Dr. Griffin is the founder of Animal Dermatology Group, Inc. His dream to bring advance veterinary dermatology to pet owners has become a reality through his hard work and vision. He is proud to have started the ADG Resident Training Program, the first non-academic organization approved by the ACVD to provide a program preparing future board certified veterinary dermatologists. Through Dr. Griffin’s dedication, along with the commitment of the ADG medical team, this has become one of the most successful veterinary dermatology training programs in the country.

Fun Facts:
Dr. Griffin enjoys spending time with his wife, Cait, and their multiple mixed breed rescue dogs, currently Gig aByte, Lolli Love and Huckleberry Hawk. He is an avid snow skier and enjoys anytime he can get away to the mountains and evergreen forests in the US and around the world. His love for teaching has taken him to many places across the globe and he enjoys spending time interacting with people from numerous countries and experience the local flavor of a wide variety of friends and people he meets along the way.
