Lisa Akucewich, DVM

Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Dermatology

Dr. Lisa Akucewich received her DVM from the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. She completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine, surgery and emergency medicine at Wheatridge Animal Hospital/Denver Veterinary Specialists in 1999 before beginning her 3-year dermatology residency at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Akucewich gained Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD) in 2002.

After becoming a board certified veterinary dermatologist, Dr. Akucewich continued at the University of Florida as an Assistant Clinical Professor until 2006, when she entered private referral practice . 

Dr. Akucewich’s clinical interests include ear disease, allergic skin diseases and autoimmune skin diseases in dogs and cats. She has authored several articles on veterinary dermatology and co-authored a chapter on “Pruritic Skin Diseases” in The Handbook of Small Animal Practice (Morgan RV, ed). She lectures regularly, including at national veterinary education meetings such as the North American Veterinary Conference.

Fun Facts:

Dr. Akucewich likes working out and watching her boys play sports. Mac (12) plays soccer and Graham (14) plays football. Her family includes five dogs and 2 cats and when not practicing she enjoys traveling with family and friends and attending live music events.
