Dermatology Rotating Internship Program

Animal Dermatology Group (ADG) is excited to provide and alternate pathway for new graduates and young veterinarians who are interested in a career in dermatology.  The dermatology focused rotating internship satisfies the internship requirement for ADG residency positions and many others, while focusing on skills and techniques that benefit a dermatology minded individual and providing experience in other disciplines relevant to the specialty.

The dermatology focused rotating internship is a one year commitment that will give the candidate six months of mentored internship under board-certified dermatologists and six months of mentored experience in the related disciplines of internal medicine, ophthalmology and oncology. This position will allow the candidate to build a strong foundation of both clinical and theoretical dermatological knowledge while developing skills and experience in related disciplines that will aid in obtaining a dermatology residency.

Dermatology rotating interns will hone their skills in dermatology history taking, clinical assessments, development of differential diagnoses, basic clinical diagnostics (including development of cytological acumen), basic dermatological diagnostics (including biopsy sampling) and a better understanding of specialty diagnostics required in referral dermatology services.  During out-rotations in the related disciplines, the intern will develop experience and clinical expertise in assisting with case management of patients with diseases related to the individual discipline with a particular focus on disorders that have relevance to dermatology.  The intern will participate actively in all aspects of the out rotations and assist in the daily routine of those practices.
